Quick Start for Clinicians
Your first session in DPC Pro: log in, find your schedule, review a patient record, and write your first note.
As a clinician, your DPC Pro experience is centered on your patients: their records, schedules, messages, and clinical documentation. Your practice manager handles billing, settings, and administrative setup. This guide walks you through the areas you will use every day so you can start seeing patients confidently.
Step 1: Log In and Orient Yourself
Section titled “Step 1: Log In and Orient Yourself”- Open app.dpcpro.com in your browser.
- Enter your email address and password, then select Log In. If your practice uses single sign-on, select Log in with SSO.
- You land on the Dashboard, which shows your schedule for today, unread messages, and recent activity.
As a clinician, the dashboard shows:
- Today’s Patients: your scheduled visits and check-in count
- Unread Messages: patient messages waiting for your response
- Recent Activity: recent events in your practice
For the full dashboard layout, see Dashboard Overview.
Step 2: Find Your Schedule
Section titled “Step 2: Find Your Schedule”Navigate to Schedule to see your visits for the day and week.
- The list view shows visits grouped by date, with patient name, visit type, time, and status on each card.
- Use the Provider filter to show only your visits if the default shows all providers.
- Select any visit to open its detail page, where you can check in patients, update status, or start a clinical note.
For full schedule navigation, see Daily and Weekly Schedule Views.
Step 3: Open a Patient Record
Section titled “Step 3: Open a Patient Record”Navigate to Patients and select a patient from your roster. The patient record includes:
- Demographics: name, date of birth, contact information
- Medical History: allergies, chronic conditions, current medications, surgical history
- Membership status: current plan and billing status
- Practice enrollment: provider assignment and enrollment dates
From the patient record, you can:
- Start a new clinical note
- Schedule a visit
- Send a message
- View all previous notes
See Patient Records for the full reference.
Step 4: Write Your First Note
Section titled “Step 4: Write Your First Note”DPC Pro uses a structured SOAP format for visit notes.
- Open a scheduled visit from the Schedule and select New Clinical Note, or navigate to Clinical Notes → New Note.
- The note editor opens with three panels:
- Left sidebar: patient context (allergies, medications, conditions)
- Center: SOAP editor (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan)
- Right sidebar: visit details, previous notes, active prescriptions
- Enter the chief complaint, then work through each SOAP section.
- Record vitals in the Objective section using Edit Vitals.
- Add ICD-10 diagnosis codes in the Assessment section using Add ICD-10 Code.
- The editor auto-saves every two minutes. You can also press Ctrl+S (or Cmd+S).
When the note is complete:
- Select Mark Complete.
- Review the note, then select Sign Note to finalize it as a permanent medical record.
For the full note-writing guide, see Write Visit Notes.
Step 5: Check Your Messages
Section titled “Step 5: Check Your Messages”Navigate to Messages to see patient conversations and team threads.
- The Patient tab shows conversations with patients: clinical questions, follow-ups, and care coordination.
- The Team tab shows internal conversations with colleagues.
- Select any conversation to read and reply.
If the AI assistant is enabled, you may see suggested draft replies on patient messages. Review, edit, and send them, or discard and write your own.
For full messaging details, see Send and Receive Messages.
Step 6: Explore the AI Assistant
Section titled “Step 6: Explore the AI Assistant”If your practice has enabled the AI assistant, you can use it to:
- Ask practice questions: “Who are my patients this afternoon?” or “What medications is this patient on?”
- Review drafted replies: The AI may draft responses to patient messages for your review.
- Read your daily summary: A morning briefing with your schedule, messages, and patient panel changes.
The AI does not make clinical decisions, send messages without your approval, or modify patient records. Every AI action is logged in the audit trail.
